Ever wanted to develop your own website but just didn't know how to get started? Website Development is probably a lot easier than you think and we'll show you how.

Step 9: Learn About Modules

Let's take a look at the modules but before we do let's be sure we are looking at the same page. Click on "Administer" link and we will go from there.

Scroll down to the third link on the right column titled "Modules" and click on it. Now you will see a list of the modules that came preinstalled with Drupal. Take a moment to read the descriptions.

There are a lot of modules you can "enable" but for now let's enable the "Poll" module. To enable the poll module just click the box to it's left and then scroll down and click on "save configuration".

You can now create polls. Let's go ahead and create a poll for your site. Click on the "Create Content" link in your left hand column and then click on the second link titled "Poll" located on the column on the right.

In the "Question" block enter your poll question. If you can't think of a question maybe use "what is your favorite color". Under that you will see fields for your poll "choices". The first block is "Choice 1" enter you first choice, use "red" if you want to. Where it says "Votes for choice 1" you can enter the number of votes that you would like that choice to start out with. We leave ours set at 0.

Now go ahead and fill out a few more choices. Once you have your choices sroll down scroll down to the bottom of the page to "publishing options" and click on it. Now click on the box to the left of "Promoted to front page". Then scroll down and click on "submit". New content is normally sent to the front page but we don't want our new poll there. Instead let's put it in the right hand column. To do that we are going to learn about blocks.
