Ever wanted to develop your own website but just didn't know how to get started? Website Development is probably a lot easier than you think and we'll show you how.
Step 8: Add Content
Let's create some content for your website. The first link on the menu to the left is "Create content", click on it. There are two types of content you can currently create. Click on "Page", we are going to create the content for the front page of your site.
First decide on a title, maybe use "Welcome". Then you want to add the body. Let's put your mission statement here for now. You can add more to it later. After you enter your mission statement scroll down until you see "Publishing options", click on it. You now should see a list of options. Toggle on the "Promoted to Front Page" option. After that click on "submit".
Now lets take a look at how a guest would view your site. On the links to the left click on "Log out". This is what guests will see. Not bad so far, but let's add a few more pages with some links.
Log back into you website and click on "Create Content". We are going to create another page so click on the "Page" link. Let's make a contact page. In the "Title" block enter "Contact Us". In the body enter your contact information.
Now scroll down until you see "Menu Settings" and click on it. There is where we tell Drupal about your link. Again put "Contact Us" where is says title. In the description field put a phrase that describes the page. Where it says "Navigation" open up the drop list and scrool down towards the bottom until you see "Primary Links". This tells Drupal which menu to put your link on.
You can have many menus but for now we will put the link on primary links. Leave the weight a 0. Weight is the way to order things on the page. They are ordered from the lightest to the heaviest. A link with a weight of -10 would be the first link. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on "submit". You have just created a new page and should see a link to it towards the upper left. Now repeat the steps above but this time use "About Us" in the titles instead of "Contact Us" to create an about us page. Now that you know how to make a page it is time to learn about modules.
