Ever wanted to develop your own website but just didn't know how to get started? Website Development is probably a lot easier than you think and we'll show you how.
First Step ... waiting for something to happen
Todd,
So I took your advice and pointed my domain hitechspirit.com to the NameServers you have listed. It took 24 hours - which was to be expected.
Then I signed up with HostGator. They sent me an email after 30 minutes listing different NameServers. This confused in several ways. First I didn't know if I should change the NameServers or will they?? I wrote them an email and I am waiting to hear from them.
Anyway I could not wait. So I plunged ahead - I wanted to blog an entry after all!
I went to CPanel and clicked on Fantastico and saw the whole list of wonderful software on the left("Scripts") . I almost felt like a kid in a candy-shop.
Anyway I choose SMF (Simple Machines Forum) in Discussion Forums, and installed it. Within Fantastico screen, I clicked "Visit Site."
This is where I got disappointed. It showed none of SMF's graphics. All I saw was Text and it didn't look appealing. I am using Firefox 2.0.0.4. I fiddled with the NoScript and similar settings, but nothing changed. (I tried a few other sites in other tabs and every other site formatted properly.)
Also, when I typed HiTechSpirit.com directly in another tab in the browser URL, I got a Page Not Found page. This was another puzzle. (Maybe its because they are changing the NameServers?)
Anyway, since Fantastico made it so simple, I decided to experiment. I Removed SMF. This felt powerful!! Then I installed PhpBB. With great expectations I clicked on "Visit Site." But I got the 404 Page Not Found.
I tweaked browser settings again but to no avail. I realized I must be doing something wrong maybe. I decided to call it a night and look into it tomorrow.

Sorry for the confusion.
Raj,
Sorry for the confusion. You are supposed to change the namerservers where you registered your domain name to match the nameservers that were sent to you in the Host Gator email. The nameservers shown in the guide were only meant to be examples of what to look for in the Host Gator email.
Sorry for any confusion and I have updated the guide to make it more clear.
Regarding SMF, there a number of templates available at the Simple Machines Website. They are super easy to install. If you need help just let me know and I will walk you through it.
Take Care,
Todd
OK, Todd, thanks for the
